Once upon a time…

there was a little girl who loved books and stories and fairy tales. She dreamed of faraway lands filled with mythical creatures, talking animals, and heroic characters. But she grew up. Now she writes about those things.

Sharlene Spires is an author/illustrator of picture books, middle grade chapter books, and young adult novels. She lives on a small farm in the smallest county in Florida and helps her husband run their small-town grocery store--Spires Market--established 1890--the oldest grocery store in the state. She has a BA in English Literature and loves bringing a little bit of American Literature to life in her stories.
